Last performed by the HSO in 2013\, this audience favorite returns with all its grandeur and dramatic flair. \nThe concert also includes Gabriela Lena Frank’s Apu\, inspired by Andean culture and blending folk traditions with contemporary orchestral language. Through themes of compassion\, transformation\, and love\, the story unfolds with memorable characters and moments that have captivated audiences for generations. \nThe production features an Oscar-winning and Tony Award–nominated score by Alan Menken\, with lyrics by Tim Rice and a book by Linda Woolverton. Classic songs such as “Be Our Guest” and “Beauty and the Beast” are brought to life with updated staging\, elaborate new sets\, and dazzling costumes. Members of the original Tony Award–winning creative team reunite for this production\, including director and choreographer Matt West\, scenic designer Stanley A. Meyer\, costume designer Ann Hould-Ward\, and lighting designer Natasha Katz. \nPerformances are scheduled April 7 through April 11 at 7:30 pm\, with a matinee on April 11 at 2 pm\, and final performances on April 12 at 1 pm and 6:30 pm.
