SUMMARY:RESCHEDULED! The Great Migration in Hartford at Connecticut Museum of Culture and History
DESCRIPTION:The Connecticut Museum of Culture and History will present RESCHEDULED! The Great Migration in Hartford on June 11 from 6 pm to 7 pm as part of an ongoing series exploring the diverse communities that have shaped Hartford’s North End over the past two centuries. \nDuring the presentation\, Dr. Channon Miller of Trinity College will discuss the impact of the early 20th-century migration of Black Americans from the South to Northern cities and examine Hartford’s place within the broader story of the Great Migration. The program will explore themes of freedom\, opportunity\, resilience\, and community-building while highlighting the experiences of Black residents who helped shape the North End’s cultural and historical identity. \nThe lecture serves as a companion program to the Museum’s Making History\, Making Change Lecture Series organized through Smithsonian Affiliations. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to explore the Museum’s exhibition Drawn Here: Stories from Hartford’s North End\, which examines the migration history and culture of the neighborhood through graphic storytelling. \nThe Connecticut Museum of Culture and History is located at 1 Elizabeth Street\, Hartford\, CT 06105. Admission is free. \nFor more information\, visit https://www.connecticutmuseum.org/event/the-great-migration-in-hartford/.
