SUMMARY:Foraging Hike at Franc Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Explore the woods of Franc Preserve with mushroom expert Danielle during a 1- to 2-mile foraging hike on Sunday\, August 23\, at 1 pm. The hike will take place at Franc Preserve in Bethel\, with frequent stops to examine mushrooms\, plants\, rocks\, and other woodland discoveries. \nWith 10 years of experience identifying native mushrooms\, Danielle will share tips for recognizing local fungi and other natural finds. Depending on recent weather conditions\, participants may spot summer mushrooms and late-season berries. The route will be primarily through forest trails and may be too long for small children. \nSturdy shoes and water are recommended\, and tick repellent is suggested. A few benches are available along the route\, though they are unevenly spaced. Leashed dogs are welcome as long as they are comfortable around other people and dogs. \nThe parking area can be found by using 160 Plumtrees Road in GPS; a sign will mark the area. A liability release must be signed upon arrival. Light rain or mist will not cancel the hike\, but heavy rain or unsafe trail conditions may result in a cancellation that morning. Anyone who chooses to take mushrooms or other items home for consumption does so at their own risk.
