Known for her evocative prints and sculptures\, Catlett used her art to highlight social justice and celebrate Black and Mexican identities—what she called “my two peoples.” \nThe exhibition showcases Catlett’s powerful visual narratives that span over seven decades\, capturing her role as an artist\, educator\, and activist. These works\, drawn from the collection of fellow artist and scholar Samella Lewis\, highlight Catlett’s impact on political movements and personal lives alike. \nThis exhibition is organized by Landau Traveling Exhibitions\, Los Angeles\, and supported by Post University. \nThe Mattatuck Museum is located at 144 West Main Street\, Waterbury\, Connecticut.
