The Communication, Film, and Theatre Department presents Zoomers, a new play by Matthew Gasda, directed by David Pellegrini, running from February 27 through March 9 at the Fine Arts Instructional Center Proscenium Theater in Willimantic. Originally premiering in New York in 2024, Gasda’s work has been praised for its sharp, humorous exploration of the Gen Z experience.
Set in a Brooklyn apartment, Zoomers follows a group of twenty-something roommates navigating friendships, relationships, and the search for meaning in a world full of distractions—including their obsession with Super Smash Brothers. The play captures the voice of a generation, earning recognition from The New York Times for its authentic dialogue and Substack for its honest take on Gen Z dating culture.
Tickets are free for Eastern students; $5 for other students and groups of 10 or more; $10 for senior citizens; $12 for Eastern faculty, staff, and alumni; and $20 for the general public.
Performances are scheduled for February 27, 28, March 1, and March 6-8 at 7:30 pm, with a final matinee on March 9 at 4 pm. The theater is located at 83 Windham Street, Willimantic, CT.
