Zoo Tots – August at Bridgeport Zoo

Families with young children can enjoy a morning of learning and exploration during Zoo Tots, a 30-minute program designed for ages 22 months to 4 years, accompanied by an adult. This month’s theme spotlights the Zoo’s resident golden lion tamarins in the Rainforest building. Native to the forests of Brazil, these endangered primates have been brought back from the brink of extinction through conservation efforts, with zoos playing a vital role in their recovery.

The program will also focus on the critical importance of honeybees to the food supply and the conservation initiatives in place to protect them. Attendees will discover ways to help this species in their own backyards. Special programming, “Hoo’s at the Zoo?”, will feature a live animal encounter in the Adventure Amphitheatre from 10:30 am to 11 am, introducing a guest that “likes to hoot and is usually awake in the evening.” In case of rain, this segment will move to the Greenhouse. Activities may include stories, songs, puppet shows, crafts, and live animals.
