Zoo Tots at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo

Families with young children can enjoy a festive and educational morning at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. As part of the Zoo’s Zoo Tots program, children ages 22 months to 4 years, accompanied by an adult, will explore the question “Why do birds have feathers?” during a special session held from 10:30 am to 11:00 am in the Adventure Amphitheatre. In case of rain, the program will move indoors to the Greenhouse.

Zoo Tots is a 30-minute experience that may include storytelling, songs, crafts, puppet shows, and even appearances by live animals. The program provides a unique opportunity for toddlers and their caregivers to connect with nature in a fun, age-appropriate setting.

The event is part of a broader summer calendar celebrating animals and conservation, including upcoming events such as World Snake Day, the Teddy Bear Festival, National Zookeeper Week, and National Merry-Go-Round Day. Visitors are also invited to participate in the Zoo’s 7th annual photography contest, with judging in July and an exhibition scheduled for July 23 in the Hanson Building.
