Yale Concert Band: Music and Guest Artists of Venezuela and Mexico

Join the Yale Concert Band for an evening of vibrant music inspired by the rich traditions of Venezuela and Mexico. Under the direction of Thomas C. Duffy, this performance will feature guest artists and composers who bring unique cultural sounds to life.
Highlights include:
- Aldemaro Romero’s Fuga con Pajarillo, with virtuoso performances on the harp and cuatro by guest artist Hector Molina.
- Onda Tropical by Rodrigo Martinez Torres, evoking the nostalgic feeling of home with guest artist Abi Pak on the acordeón.
- Nubia Jaime-Donjuan’s Tundra: A Cold that Burns, exploring the warmth of the danzón against the backdrop of the cold tundra.
Additional works will include:
- Jennifer Higdon’s lively Fanfare Ritmico
- Charles Ives’ Decoration Day, a haunting depiction of Memorial Day
- Darius Milhaud’s Suite Française, a celebration of folk tunes from WWII
