Writing in Mark Twain’s Library at The Mark Twain House & Museum

Writers seeking inspiration can spend an evening working in one of the most iconic literary spaces in America during Writing in Mark Twain’s Library on July 8, 2026, from 5 pm to 8 pm. This unique experience offers three uninterrupted hours to write, reflect, brainstorm, or develop creative projects within the library where Mark Twain himself worked and wrote.

Designed for writers of all kinds, the program is not a class or workshop. Instead, it provides a quiet and contemplative atmosphere where participants can focus on their work alongside a small group of fellow writers. The historic setting, complemented by the gentle sound of the fountain in the nearby conservatory, creates an inspiring environment for creativity and concentration.

Guests are welcome to bring laptops; however, power outlets are not available, so devices should be fully charged before arrival. To help preserve the historic space, only pencils may be used, and pens are not permitted.
