Winter Solstice Luminary at Edgerton Park

Edgerton Park in New Haven will host its 7th annual Winter Solstice Luminary Walk on December 21, 2024, from 5 to 8 pm. This enchanting event celebrates the winter solstice and the connection to nature and community on the longest night of the year.
Visitors can stroll through the park illuminated by lanterns and light sculptures, featuring works by Atelier Cue and others. The evening includes music, art, and festive activities for all ages. Performances will take place in the Carriage House, with Kudzu Queen at 5:30 pm and the James Limerick Kerr Duo at 6:30 pm. A science demonstration by Eli Whitney Museum and Workshop and walking lantern displays by students of the Educational Center for the Arts add to the evening’s magic.
Warm up with festive beverages provided by Gioia and enjoy the event’s finale: a lantern parade led by the Hillhouse High School Marching Band at 7:30 pm. Guests are invited to join the parade and celebrate the longer days to come.
The event is free and open to all. Edgerton Park is located in New Haven, with entry through the gates at Cliff Street and Edgehill Road. In case of rain, the event will take place on December 31.
