Window Art Stroll & Contest Returns to Downtown New Haven
May 7 - June 30
The Shops at Yale and Whitney-Audubon Retail & Arts District are excited to announce the return of the annual Window Art Stroll & Contest, taking place in downtown New Haven from Saturday, May 7, 2022 (rain date May 8) through Monday, May 30, 2022.
The Window Art Stroll & Contest is a self-guided walking tour with an online people’s choice voting system. Installations will take place on Saturday, May 7 (rain date May 8) beginning at 9:00am at thirty locations throughout three districts in historic downtown New Haven — Broadway, Chapel, and Whitney-Audubon. Guests are welcome to watch as artists transform merchants’ windows into colorful, summer-themed art displays.
Guests are encouraged to vote for their favorite art display after they complete the walk at TheShopsatYale.com/ArtStroll — and those who do will be automatically entered to win $50 gift cards to various retailers and restaurants, including lululemon, Harvest, J.Crew, Urban Outfitters, Claire’s Corner Copia, Walker-Loden, Atticus Bookstore Café, and more!
An exciting new addition to the festivities this year includes the inaugural Spring Outdoor Art Sales, taking place on Saturdays, May 14 and May 21 from 11am-3pm on Broadway Island in New Haven (at 56 Broadway). Guests will have an opportunity to purchase artwork from participating artists and enjoy live music by local musicians, with convenient hourly parking available adjacent to Broadway Island. Free parking is available at the 150 York Street Garage from 11am-3pm on May 14 and 21. Guests simply bring their parking ticket to The Shops at Yale tent on Broadway Island during the art sales for a validation stamp. Rain dates are scheduled for the following day.
Printed event guides with walking maps will be available from May 7 through May 30 inside participating merchants during their normal hours of operation, or online at TheShopsatYale.com/ArtStroll. The window art installations are temporary and will be removed after May 30, 2022
Convenient hourly parking is available at five surface parking lots adjacent to stores and restaurants — 255 Crown Street, 161 York Street, 56 Broadway, 40 Dixwell Avenue, and 78 Audubon Street. Directions can be found at TheShopsatYale.com/Park and WhitneyAudubon.com/Parking.
