Willis Conducts Pictures at an Exhibition at The Bushnell

The Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s 2026–2027 Masterworks Series presents Willis Conducts Pictures at an Exhibition, a concert exploring the connections between visual art and music. Led by Music Director finalist Alastair Willis, the program brings together works by three composers, offering audiences a chance to experience how musical textures, colors, and rhythms can evoke the world of painting.
The program features Anna Clyne’s Abstractions, Maurice Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G with pianist Evren Ozel, and Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, a celebrated orchestral work inspired by visual artworks. Together, the pieces explore a range of styles, from contemporary musical expression to vivid orchestral storytelling.
Performances take place Friday, December 11, and Saturday, December 12, at 8 pm, and Sunday, December 13, at 3 pm in the Belding Theater at The Bushnell in Hartford.
Tickets are sold through the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. More information and ticket details are available at https://www.bushnell.org/events/detail/new-world-symphony-beyond-3.
