Watershed Week at Connecticut River Museum

The Connecticut River and the communities connected to it take center stage during Watershed Week, taking place September 18 through 27, 2026, as partners throughout the Connecticut River watershed come together to celebrate and protect this national treasure.
Now in its second year, Watershed Week is organized by the Connecticut River Watershed Partnership and brings together organizations and volunteers across all four watershed states. The week-long celebration encourages participants to learn more about their local watershed and the people working to enhance, restore and protect the Connecticut River and its surrounding communities.
The Connecticut River Museum will kick off the week with a Block Party on Saturday, September 19. The free, family-friendly event will feature a full day of activities along with a Source to Sea Cleanup in partnership with Sustainable Essex.
Throughout Watershed Week, visitors can also explore the museum’s exhibits to learn about the history and ecology of the Connecticut River. The special exhibit Rhythm of the River: Music and Memory Along the Connecticut is currently on view, featuring original art, photographs, sheet music, sound recordings and other materials exploring the sounds and music that have shaped life along the river.
Watershed Week takes place September 18 through 27 at the Connecticut River Museum, 67 Main Street, Essex, Connecticut 06426.
