Vox Feminae: His Story, Her Voice at The Bushnell

The Hartford Chorale presents Vox Feminae: His Story, Her Voice on Friday, May 16 at The Bushnell in Hartford. This powerful choral concert celebrates the artistry and innovation of visionary women composers, blending music, history, and visual storytelling into an unforgettable evening.

The program features the dramatic and emotionally charged The Cry of Jeremiah by renowned African American composer Rosephanye Powell. This powerful choral and spoken-word work, which premiered at Lincoln Center, will be performed alongside two of Powell’s other stirring compositions, Arise, Beloved! and To Sit and Dream.

Also on the program is The Notebooks of Leonardo Da Vinci by Jocelyn Hagen, a groundbreaking fusion of live choral performance with projected imagery from Da Vinci’s original sketches. The result is a multimedia concert experience that reimagines classical music presentation and celebrates creative brilliance.
