Victorian Darien: A Historic Homes Happy Hour in Darien
May 3 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Historic charm meets architectural elegance during Victorian Darien: A Historic Homes Happy Hour, taking place on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 1 pm. This guided walking tour explores Prospect Avenue, Darien’s first official subdivision established in 1867, a neighborhood that once inspired the Norwalk Gazette to write, “The prospects are that Darien is about to awake from its long sleep.”
During this approximately one-hour tour, guests will experience the beauty of late 19th-century architecture, including Queen Anne and Italianate styles. The walk includes interior access to a classic Queen Anne home and the historic George Mather House, a beautifully preserved example of Italianate design. Along the way, participants will learn about the area’s development and the sophisticated newcomers who shaped its early days.
This “happy hour” walking tour may not include drinks, but it offers a spirited exploration of local history and architecture. The event is offered one time only, and space is limited.
Tickets and additional information are available at histoury.org or by calling (212) 683-1961.
