Two Architectural Gems: The Rose and Rowley House Rooms at Yale University Art Gallery

Patricia E. Kane, Friends of American Arts Curator of American Decorative Arts, will present a gallery talk on two historic Connecticut rooms installed in Street Hall during the Yale University Art Gallery’s 2012 renovation. One room is from the Rose House, built in North Branford around 1725, and the other is a parlor from the Rowley House, constructed in Hebron around 1770–71.
The discussion will highlight the similarities and differences between the two spaces and examine the architectural techniques practiced by Connecticut carpenters and joiners in creating elaborate interior woodwork. This program offers insight into how these historic rooms reflect craftsmanship and design from their respective eras.
The gallery talk will take place on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at the Yale University Art Gallery, 1111 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT 06510. Admission is free. For more details, visit artgallery.yale.edu.
