Thursdays on the Dock: Central City Stompers at Connecticut River Museum

The sounds of classic jazz will fill the waterfront as the Central City Stompers take the stage for Thursdays on the Dock at the Connecticut River Museum on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Part of the Museum’s long-running summer concert series, this free event offers an evening of live music set against the scenic backdrop of the Connecticut River.
The 10-piece Central City Stompers specialize in what is often called Classic Jazz, blending popular tunes from the first half of the 20th century with influences from blues, ragtime, Dixieland, and New Orleans-style jazz. Drawing inspiration from legendary groups such as King Oliver’s Creole Jazz Band and the Yerba Buena Stompers, the band delivers an energetic performance that celebrates the rich traditions of early American jazz.
Guests are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the music while watching the sunset over the river. Thursdays on the Dock has been a shoreline favorite for more than 17 years and continues to be one of the region’s premier destinations for free waterfront concerts.
The Connecticut River Museum is located at 67 Main Street, Essex, CT 06426. In the event of inclement weather, updates will be posted on the Museum’s website. For more information, visit https://ctrivermuseum.org/events/thursdays-on-the-dock-central-city-stompers/.
