Broadway’s brightest names take center stage in Theatre People, a fast-paced comedy set in a glamorous Newport mansion in 1948. Running from March 25 through April 12, 2025, this production by Paul Slade Smith—adapted from Ferenc Molnar’s Play at the Castle—offers a heartfelt and hilarious tribute to the world of theatre.
With a cast full of scheming playwrights, flamboyant actors, a star-struck author, and a no-nonsense housekeeper, the story unfolds in classic screwball fashion. Directed by Mark Shanahan, Theatre People celebrates the chaotic charm of backstage life and is recommended for ages 14 and up.
Performances take place at the Westport Country Playhouse, located at 25 Powers Court, Westport, CT. Showtimes are Tuesday through Thursday at 7 pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, with Saturday matinees on April 5 and April 12 at 3 pm, and Sunday performances at 3 pm. Matinees are also scheduled for Wednesday, April 2 and April 9 at 2 pm.
Ticket prices start at $35. Discounts are available for seniors, students, military personnel, and first responders. Wednesday evening performances are Pay What You Will, and $5 Library Pass tickets are available through select local libraries.
