An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until August 3, 2025

The Bruce Museum in Greenwich presents The William L. Richter Collection, on view through August 3, 2025. This installation celebrates the exceptional collection of Greenwich resident William L. Richter, showcasing French and European art from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Featuring works by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Henri Matisse, Georges Braque, and others, the exhibition explores artistic mentorship, collaboration, and rivalry across generations.
Highlights include Matisse’s Marguerite in a Fur Hat, painted shortly after his move to Nice in 1917, marking a stylistic shift toward intimate, realistic portraiture. The collection also includes works by Gustave Caillebotte, Paul Cézanne, Paul Klee, Henri Rousseau, and John Singer Sargent, reflecting the evolution of Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, and Surrealism through vibrant color, expressive brushwork, and symbolic depth.
The Bruce Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors (62+) and students, and free for children under 5 and members. Discounts and reciprocal admission are offered in person only. The museum participates in Museums for All, providing free admission for up to four guests with an EBT card.
The Bruce Museum is located at 1 Museum Drive, Greenwich, CT 06903. For more information, visit brucemuseum.org or contact info@brucemuseum.org.
