The Weight Band at Infinity Music Hall Hartford

Fans of classic Americana can experience an evening of rich musical history when The Weight Band performs at Infinity Music Hall Hartford. Led by guitarist and vocalist Jim Weider, a Woodstock native who succeeded Robbie Robertson in The Band and later performed alongside Levon Helm, the group was formed in 2013 in Helm’s legendary Woodstock barn. Inspired by Helm’s encouragement to preserve the spirit of The Band, The Weight Band carries forward the sound that helped shape American roots music.

Their album Shines Like Gold showcases a blend of roadhouse rock, country soul, blues, swamp pop, and folk traditions, reflecting the distinctive “Woodstock Sound.” Concertgoers can expect a mix of original songs along with beloved classics from The Band’s catalog, as well as selections inspired by artists such as the Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, and Bob Dylan.

The ensemble includes Brian Mitchell, Albert Rogers, Michael Bram, and Matt Zeiner — all seasoned musicians with deep ties to the music they perform. Their collective experience and appreciation for these traditions create a performance that celebrates decades of influential American songwriting.
