The Piano Lesson at Garde Arts Center

As part of the 2025 Breezeline Winter Cinema Series, The Piano Lesson will screen at Garde Arts Center on February 16 at 3 pm.
Based on August Wilson’s acclaimed 1987 play, The Piano Lesson follows the Charles family as they grapple with the fate of a treasured heirloom—an intricately carved piano that carries the weight of their family’s history and legacy. This marks the third film adaptation in Wilson’s Pittsburgh Cycle produced by Denzel Washington, following Fences (2016) and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (2020).
Directed by Malcolm Washington, the film stars John David Washington, Danielle Deadwyler, Samuel L. Jackson, and Erykah Badu.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased through the Garde Arts Center.
