The Ghosts of Mark Twain with Ann M. Ryan and Kerry Driscoll at The Mark Twain House & Museum

This engaging evening program explores Mark Twain’s complex legacy through the lens of Ann M. Ryan’s new book The Ghosts of Mark Twain. Together, Twain scholars Ann M. Ryan and Kerry Driscoll will delve into Twain’s “gothic imagination,” revealing how themes of white manhood, Black resistance, and racial violence appear throughout his writing and why these ideas continue to resonate today. Presented as part of the museum’s Trouble Begins Series, the event offers a thought-provoking look at Twain’s life, work, and era, as well as the broader humanities topics his stories illuminate.
