The Cat in the Hat at Garde Arts Center

Dr. Seuss’s beloved classic springs to life on stage in this energetic adaptation of The Cat in the Hat at the Garde Arts Center in New London. First published in 1957 using just 200 words, the timeless tale continues to delight generations with its mischievous humor and imaginative spirit.
On a dreary, rainy afternoon, two bored siblings find their day turned upside down when a curious cat in a red-striped hat arrives at their door. Alongside the irrepressible Thing One and Thing Two—and much to the dismay of their outspoken pet Fish—the Cat brings chaos, comedy, and a reminder that fun and imagination can transform even the dullest day. Adapted for the stage by the National Theatre of Britain in 2009, this lively production fills the theater with madcap antics, playful surprises, and plenty of laughs for the whole family.
The Cat in the Hat will be performed on March 7, 2026 at 11 am at the Garde Arts Center, 325 State Street, New London, CT 06320. Producer and Benefactor members of the Garde receive advance purchase opportunities prior to the public on-sale date of October 31 at 10 am.
