The Blessing of the Fleet at Stonington Fishermens Dock

As Stonington has done for over 60 years, we look forward to celebrating the annual Blessing of the Fleet on July 28, 22 – July 31, 2022. This is to honor our present and past commercial fishermen, lobstermen and their families. The traditional celebration returns this year!
THURSDAY, July 28 at 6 p.m.: The 5k is back! The 2022 Blessing of the Fleet 5K Race is an in-person timed race through historic Stonington Borough. Our certified course starts and ends at the Town Dock, 1 High Street, Stonington. You can also choose to register for a non-competitive 2-mile walk.
SATURDAY, JULY 30 from 4-8 p.m.: The Stonington Holy Ghost Society will host a gathering of family and friends to celebrate the Blessing. There will be live music and an assortment of delicious Portuguese foods, plus hamburgers and hot dogs.
SUNDAY, JULY 31 at 10:30 a.m.: A mass will be held at St. Mary Church in Stonington. Following mass, a ceremony will be held at the Town Dock with Bishop Cote and Reverend Perkins, plus Stonington dignitaries. The vessels will be blessed during the traditional boat ride out to the breakwater, where the floral wreath is laid to honor our beloved deceased fishermen.
Noon to 4 p.m.: Join us or food, beverage and music at the town dock!
