The Big E Schedule + Connecticut Day Events
September 14 - September 30
The Big E is coming to Springfield, Massachusetts September 14 through September 30, 2018. The Big E, also known as The Eastern States Exposition, is know as “New England’s Great State Fair”. It is the largest agricultural event on the eastern seaboard and the seventh-largest fair in the nation. The Big E features everything from a daily Mardi Gras parade to car shows, XFinity Arena concerts, Big 5K race, and even a Monster Truck rides. More than a million people from across New England come together in West Springfield, Massachusetts for 17 days of music, crafts and food.
New Connecticut Exhibitors include:
- A variety of chowder, soups and bisques representing the five competing categories at the annual New England Chowdafest, September 30th in Westport
- Three museums, including Bristol’s American Clock and Watch Museum
- Handcrafted goods, including custom wood burnings, glassware and silhouettes
- Award-winning baked goods from Michele’s Pies in Norwalk
The Connecticut Craft Beer Garden has also expanded to offer beer and cider from over 20 breweries across the state, including Kent Falls Brewing in Kent, Thimble Island Brewing Company in Branford and Fox Farm Brewery in Salem.
“The Connecticut Building is a great way to showcase our state’s unique businesses to visitors from New England and beyond,” said Randy Fiveash, director of the Connecticut Office of Tourism. “From well-known attractions and breweries to smaller shops and restaurants, we invite everyone to experience the diverse offerings that make Connecticut a great place to live and visit.”
The Big E’s “Connecticut Day” offers unique crafts and food from the state of Connecticut. The Connecticut building also features exhibits on popular tourist attractions and a wide variety of native produce. Discover Connecticut-grown delicacies such as mushrooms and oysters or drop by for an apple crisp dessert. Connecticut Day at the Big E features a Connecticut Day parade in the afternoon that includes animals, marching bands, and more.
The Connecticut Day celebration will feature a parade and over 10 hours of live entertainment on the front lawn stage including a performance by Nekita Waller, Connecticut’s first non-folk artist to serve as the official State Troubadour.
The Connecticut Building, part of the Avenue of States, is open daily from Sept. 14 to Sept. 30, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Gates open everyday at 8 am and most exhibits, the Avenue of States, and Midway open at 10 am. Agricultural activities begin early in the morning and are open to the public in the Mallary Complex.
The Big E Ticket Prices:
Adults $15/Children ages 6-12 $10; Children five and under are free. Buy your Big E tickets now through September 12 and save $3 for each adult ticket.
Value Passes: Get a Big E 17-Day Value Passes are $40 for adults and $20 for children ages 6-12. Value Passes are available online now through September 30 and at Big Y World Class Markets August 23 – September 30
The Big E Evening Discount: Admission is only $6 after 5 pm Monday through Thursday
Senior Days: Age 60 and over just $12 Monday through Thursday

Be A Kid for a Day – All ages $10 (also sold online in advance)
Military Appreciation Day – ID required for free admission for:
- Active duty and retired military personnel
- Dependents of active duty military personnel
- Veterans (no dependents)

During the special and state days, special events will take place and on certain days, individual New England states will be featured. Check out September 19th for Connecticut Day
