The 29th CT Regiment & The Fight for Freedom at Windsor Historical Society

Join the Windsor Historical Society on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM for a special screening and presentation of The 29th Connecticut Regiment and the Fight for Freedom. This award-winning short film by the Berlin Equity Action Team tells the story of Connecticut’s first Black regiment, the 29th Connecticut Regiment Volunteers, who fought to end slavery in the Civil War.
Following the film, Chris Barlow from the Berlin Historical Society will present on the making of the film, which won “Best Connecticut Film” at the 2023 Mystic Film Festival, along with additional research on the men from Berlin and Windsor who served, including Virgil Simmons and William Chase.
