Summer Camp at New Britain Museum of American Art

Kids can get creative and stay cool this summer with half-day art camps at the New Britain Museum of American Art. Designed for ages 6–12, these fun three-day sessions run weekly from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, combining hands-on artmaking with outdoor play on the Museum’s scenic grounds.

Each week explores a unique theme inspired by the Museum’s exhibitions and collections:

  • Week 1 (July 8–10): Blue Grass, Green Skies — projects include Impressionist landscapes, mini 3D flower paintings, and chalk and oil pastel creations.
  • Week 2 (July 15–17): Lure of the Sea — kids will paint stormy voyages, build paper sailboats, and craft jellyfish mobiles.
  • Week 3 (July 22–24): Storytelling Through Pulp Art — campers create pulp paper books, 3D paper objects, and expressive portraits.
  • Week 4 (July 29–31): Sculptures at the NBMAA — sessions focus on molding mini sculptures, textured clay creations, and 3D relief designs.
  • Week 5 (August 5–7): Imagination and Miniature Works of Art — activities include weaving colorful keychains, making fairy homes, and sculpting polymer clay monsters.

Camp days are $60 per day for non-members and $50 per day for Museum members. Spaces are limited and early registration is recommended.

The New Britain Museum of American Art is located at 56 Lexington Street, New Britain, Connecticut. For registration and additional details, visit nbmaa.org or call (860) 229-0257.
