Stereophonic at Palace Theater

The critically acclaimed play Stereophonic arrives at the Palace Theater from March 24 through March 26, 2026, with performances beginning at 7:30 pm each evening at 100 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06702. The production runs approximately three hours, including a 15-minute intermission.
Written by David Adjmi and directed by Daniel Aukin, Stereophonic takes audiences inside a recording studio in 1976, where an up-and-coming rock band works to complete a new album while standing on the brink of international fame. As tensions rise and creative pressures mount, the band members must navigate relationships, ambition, and artistic conflict in a story that captures both the agony and the exhilaration of the creative process.
The play features original music by Will Butler, formerly of Arcade Fire and an Academy Award nominee and Grammy Award winner. With its immersive, fly-on-the-wall perspective, Stereophonic invites audiences into the charged environment of a band struggling to hold together at the moment when success seems within reach.
Widely celebrated by critics, the production became the most Tony Award–nominated play in history with 13 nominations and went on to become the most Tony Award–winning show of the 2024 season, earning five Tony Awards including Best Play, Best Direction for Daniel Aukin, Best Scenic Design for David Zinn, and Best Sound Design for Ryan Rumery.
Stereophonic is recommended for ages 13 and older and contains simulated drug use and adult themes. For tickets and additional information, visit palacetheaterct.org or contact the Palace Theater box office.
