Statue of Liberty Film at New Britain Museum of American Art

The New Britain Museum of American Art will present a screening of Statue of Liberty on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 6:00 pm. This compelling documentary by Ken Burns explores the enduring story and symbolism of one of America’s most iconic monuments.

Through rare archival images, paintings, drawings, and powerful first-hand accounts from diaries, letters, and newspapers of the era, the film tells the fascinating story behind the creation and legacy of the Statue of Liberty. Featuring interviews with influential Americans, including Mario Cuomo, Barbara Jordan, James Baldwin, and Jerzy Kosinski, the film examines the meaning of liberty and the statue’s significance in American life.

Statue of Liberty was nominated for both an Academy Award® and an Emmy Award® and has received accolades such as the CINE Golden Eagle and the Christopher Award.
