Speak Up: Cheat, Cheat, Never Beat at Connecticut Museum of Culture and History

January 31 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Speak Up: Cheat, Cheat, Never Beat at Connecticut Museum of Culture and History

An evening of lively, true storytelling takes center stage during this edition of Speak Up, led by Matthew Dicks, a 45-time Moth StorySLAM champion and six-time GrandSLAM champion. The program features a rotating cast of storytellers sharing real-life tales centered on deception, shortcuts, clever schemes, and moments of being outsmarted, ranging from counting cards and forbidden flings to academic plagiarism and questionable paths to victory. Stories are presented in a candid, engaging format that encourages reflection, humor, and connection through shared experience.

The event takes place on January 31, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History, located at 1 Elizabeth Street, Hartford, CT. Doors open at 6:00 pm, allowing time to explore museum exhibitions, including Coffee: A Connecticut Story, before the performance begins. Admission is $20 for general audiences, $15 for members, and free for Connecticut Museum members at the $150 level and above. Snacks, soft drinks, and wine are included with admission. Tickets may be purchased online or at the door. For questions, contact Natalie Belanger, Public Programs Manager, at nbelanger@connecticutmuseum.org.
