Sketching in the Galleries at Yale University Art Gallery

This evening program invites visitors to take part in a long-standing artistic tradition inside the galleries of the Yale University Art Gallery. Inaugurated in 1867, Street Hall—now part of the museum—once housed the nation’s first collegiate school of art, where students from many disciplines sketched from live models and original works of art. This guided sketching experience continues that legacy in a contemporary setting.

The program takes place on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven, Connecticut. Open to all ages and levels of drawing experience, the session provides materials and guidance, making it accessible to beginners and experienced artists alike. The program is generously sponsored by the Martin A. Ryerson Lectureship Fund.
