Playhouse on Park in West Hartford will present a wildly inventive reimagining of Singin’ in the Rain, inspired by the beloved classic film musical. This fresh stage production begins at a screening of the iconic movie that goes hilariously awry—until die-hard fans take over to save the day. Audiences can expect all the unforgettable scenes, snappy dialogue, and timeless Hollywood tunes, including “Make ‘Em Laugh,” “Good Morning,” and the beloved title song.
Set during Hollywood’s transition from silent films to talkies, the story follows the movie star Don Lockwood and his leading lady Lina Lamont, whose squeaky voice could end her career in the new era of sound. The show delivers a delightful blend of romance, comedy, and a tap-dancing tribute to golden-age musicals—with a twist for modern theatergoers.
Performances run from July 16 through August 17, 2025, with various matinee and evening showtimes, including select Wednesday and Thursday matinees at 2:00 pm. Tickets range from $27.50 to $57.50, depending on the performance date and seat selection.
