Simsbury Celebrates and Gingerbread House Competition

On Tuesday, November 26 a Gingerbread House Competition Kicks Off Simsbury Celebrates for the holiday season. Then on Saturday, November 30th from 5 to 8:30 pm, Simsbury Celebrates as the downtown Transform Simsbury into a magical winter wonderland for a FREE entertainment extravaganza featuring a lighted Fire Truck Parade with Santa, music, performances, food, holiday sing-along at the Meadows Performing Arts Center, and much more, capped off by a fantastic fireworks display.

Simsbury Celebrates is a free community holiday celebration, traditionally held the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This year, we are celebrating the 18th anniversary of the event on Saturday, November 30th, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM, with a variety of events, culminating with a spectacular fireworks show on Iron Horse Boulevard.

One of the event highlights is the much-anticipated Gingerbread House Competition. A special preview of these incredible works of culinary art will be on display at the Simsbury Free Library.

Simsbury town organizations wants to encourage families to enjoy free festive holiday fun while showcasing the artful creations of local residents during the beloved townwide tradition and region’s largest holiday event attracting 12,000 visitors. Additional gingerbread house viewing dates at The Simsbury Free Library include November 30, December 3, and December 5.

Gingerbread House Contest – Simsbury Celebrates!

The Simsbury Free Library is pleased to be hosting the Gingerbread House competition for Simsbury Celebrates! again this year.

The entries and winners will be on display and open for viewing during the following times:

Tuesday, November 26: Special Preview 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 30: Simsbury Celebrates! 4:30-7 p.m.

This year the Simsbury Free Library is offering extended viewing hours: Tuesday, December 3 and Thursday, December 5: 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be added; check simsburyfreelibrary.org for additional information. Come view these incredible works of culinary art. They smell as good as they look! This event is free and open to the public.
