Shanties & Sails: Littlefield and Morneault at Connecticut River Museum

June 24 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Shanties & Sails: Littlefield and Morneault at Connecticut River Museum

The Connecticut River Museum in Essex will host Shanties & Sails: Littlefield and Morneault on Tuesday, June 24, with a free sea shanty performance from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. This popular music series features talented performers bringing maritime history to life through traditional folk songs and sea-themed ballads.

David Littlefield, a lifelong Old Lyme resident and maritime historian, joins Joseph Morneault, president of the Maritime Music & Tradition Society, to present songs celebrating the seafaring past of the Connecticut shoreline. Their music reflects local shipping history and the cultural legacy of the sea, offering an engaging evening for all ages.

Following the performance, guests have the option to extend their evening with a cruise aboard the Onrust, a historically accurate replica of Adriaen Block’s 1614 ship. The one-hour sail begins at 7 pm and tickets are $25. Guests aboard this special cruise will sail alongside the performers for an immersive historical and musical experience.

The Connecticut River Museum is located at 67 Main Street, Essex, Connecticut. For details and cruise reservations, visit ctrivermuseum.org.
