Shanties & Sails at Connecticut River Museum

The sounds of the sea return to the Connecticut River Museum with Shanties & Sails, a five-week live music series taking place every Tuesday in June. Held on June 2, June 9, June 16, June 23, and June 30, the series features a different performer each week and celebrates the rich tradition of sea shanties along the Connecticut River.

From 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, visitors can enjoy a free live performance on the Museum’s lawn or North Deck. Following the outdoor concert, guests can extend their evening aboard the Onrust from 7 pm to 8 pm for an intimate acoustic performance with the featured artist. Tickets for the Onrust sailing experience are $25 per person.

The Onrust is a re-creation of the vessel sailed by explorer Adriaen Block in 1614. Built using traditional methods in upstate New York, the ship offers a unique glimpse into the age of exploration, the fur trade, and early colonial history while providing memorable experiences on the water.

The Connecticut River Museum is located at 67 Main Street, Essex, CT 06426. For more information and ticket reservations, visit https://ctrivermuseum.org/events/save-the-date-shanties-sails/.
