Seeds to Success: Children’s Entrepreneurial Market at Lyman Orchards

Lyman Orchards will host the Seeds to Success: Children’s Entrepreneurial Market on Monday, September 7, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Apple Barrel Farm Market in Middlefield. The award-winning program gives children ages 5 to 17 an opportunity to experience what it takes to run a business, from developing a product or service to setting up a booth, interacting with customers, accepting payments, and making their first sales.

Young entrepreneurs can offer almost anything except food, including handmade items, crafts, games, store-bought products, and services. Children are expected to take an active role in acquiring or creating what they sell and should be able to complete preparation, fulfill orders, answer customer questions, and handle payments with minimal adult assistance. Parents can provide support when needed, and children with disabilities or special needs are welcome to participate with appropriate parental assistance.

The market is also open to shoppers looking to support local young entrepreneurs and discover their creative products and services. Visitors can make a day of their Labor Day visit to Lyman Orchards by exploring the Corn Maze, enjoying Pick-Your-Own activities, and stopping at the Apple Barrel Farm Market for seasonal treats and goodies.

The Children’s Entrepreneurial Market will take place at the Apple Barrel Farm Market, 32 Reeds Gap Road, Middlefield, CT 06455. Fundraisers, multi-level marketing businesses, and animals are not permitted, and children may not sell goods on behalf of their parents. Additional information is available at the Lyman Orchards event page.
