Screen Printing Workshop: Create Your Own Portrait at the Mattatuck Museum

Discover the art of screen printing during the Screen Printing Workshop: Create Your Own Portrait on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10 am to 12 pm at the Mattatuck Museum.

Presented in conjunction with the exhibition About Face: 250 Years of American Portraits, this free hands-on workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of screen printing. Guided by instructors from the Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven, attendees will learn how to design and create stencils for a direct screen-printing process.

Participants will produce their own portrait prints on paper and create a custom canvas shopping bag featuring their printed design alongside the Mattatuck Museum logo. No previous screen-printing experience is necessary—just bring your creativity and imagination.
