Schemitzun: Feast of Green Corn and Dance

Celebrate the annual Schemitzun harvest celebration at the Mashantucket Pequot Cultural Grounds from Friday, August 28, through Sunday, August 30, 2026. Performances begin Friday at 7 pm, Saturday at 12 pm and 7 pm, and Sunday at 12 pm.

Held in the heart of one of America’s oldest Indian reservations, Schemitzun is a family-friendly celebration that welcomes visitors to honor the harvest season and recognize the ancestors, warriors, veterans, and Elders of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. The event features traditional and contemporary tribal dance exhibitions, drum groups, live music, and a marketplace showcasing authentic Native American-made arts and crafts.

Tickets may be purchased online in advance or on-site during the event. Please note that the Mashantucket Pequot Museum will be closed on Saturday, August 29, in observance of Schemitzun. Shuttle transportation will be available from the museum parking lot to the powwow grounds.
