River Tales: Otters Under Water at Connecticut River Museum

Children and caregivers can explore the natural world through stories and crafts during River Tales at the Connecticut River Museum. This program, designed for kids ages 4 and older, highlights the beauty and importance of otters in the river ecosystem. Activities include a themed storytime and a take-home craft held in the Museum’s Boathouse.

September’s featured book is Otters Under Water by Jim Arnosky, which follows two otter pups as they dive, hunt, and play under the watchful eye of their mother. The bright watercolor illustrations and cheerful storytelling make it a perfect introduction to the world of otters.

River Tales sessions will be offered on Saturday, September 6, October 4, and November 1, 2025, at 11 am to 12 pm and again from 1 pm to 2 pm. Admission is free for Museum members and $3 per learner for non-members. Please note that general Museum admission is not included with the program ticket.
