River Explorers Summer Camp at Connecticut River Museum

Young adventurers can discover the wonders of the Connecticut River during the River Explorers Summer Camp at the Connecticut River Museum. This engaging week-long program is designed for kids who love the outdoors and want to learn new survival skills while exploring local wildlife and habitats.
Campers will investigate the river’s diverse ecosystem using binoculars, microscopes, and dip-nets to spot creatures and study plant life up close. They’ll set sail aboard the Onrust, a replica 17th-century Dutch yacht, and the RiverQuest, a 64-foot eco-friendly research vessel, for hands-on experiences in spotting eagles, ospreys, and other native wildlife. Activities will also include a fun crabbing adventure along the river.
Throughout the week, campers will build valuable survival skills suited for outdoor living in New England. Each day will include a mix of games, nature exploration, and skills practice, making this week a perfect blend of learning and summer fun.
River Explorers Summer Camp takes place from July 14 to 18, 2025, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Connecticut River Museum, 67 Main Street, Essex, CT 06426. For more information and registration, visit www.ctrivermuseum.org or call 860-767-8269.
