Plant to Plate Workshop at The Bushnell

A sensory-friendly, hands-on workshop takes place on May 3, 2026 at 10 am at The Bushnell, 166 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106.

Plant to Plate Workshop offers a calming, interactive experience that explores the journey of fresh herbs from seed to snack. Participants will engage in two guided sessions that focus on planting, sensory exploration, and creating simple, healthy foods, using touch, smell, and taste to connect with nature.

Designed as part of the venue’s Sensory-Friendly/Relaxed programming, the workshop provides an inclusive environment for individuals with autism or sensory sensitivities, as well as anyone seeking a more flexible and welcoming experience. Adjustments include lower sound levels, reduced lighting effects, designated quiet areas, and the freedom for participants to move around or take breaks as needed.

The program runs approximately 95 minutes, including a 15-minute break. Tickets are $5 per participant, with free admission for parents or caregivers who are assisting, though a no-cost ticket is required for entry.
