Paint and Plastic: Ancient American Explorations of Form and Surface at Yale University Art Gallery

Bryan R. Just, the Molly and Walter Bareiss Curator of Ancient Art, will lead a talk exploring how ancient American artists used the interplay of shape and surface in their work. The program will highlight ceramics from a range of ancient American cultures, spanning North and South America and covering nearly two thousand years of Indigenous artistic production.
The event will take place on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at the Yale University Art Gallery, 1111 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT. Attendees should meet by the central column in the Gallery lobby. Space is limited, so early arrival is recommended.
