Pagliacci at Garde Arts Center New London

Experience passion, betrayal, and unforgettable music as the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and the 2025 Greve Opera Academy present Ruggero Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci at the Garde Arts Center on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 7:30 pm. This bold new staging will be performed in the round in the Garde’s historic lobby, offering an intimate and immersive operatic experience with live orchestral accompaniment.
A masterpiece of Italian verismo opera, Pagliacci tells the story of a traveling troupe torn apart by love, jealousy, and revenge. Featuring the iconic aria “Vesti la giubba,” where the clown Canio laments hiding heartbreak behind his painted smile, the opera captures timeless human emotions in two powerful acts. The performance stars tenor José Heredia as Canio, soprano Emily Tate Daniel as Nedda, and baritone Robert Garner as Tonio, under the direction of Rosemarie Danziger and conductor Adrian Sylveen.
Founded in 2015, the Greve Opera Academy partners with the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra to present world-class productions that bring European artistry to Connecticut audiences. This special staging of Pagliacci promises a dramatic evening that blends visual splendor, emotional intensity, and exquisite music.
The Garde Arts Center is located at 325 State Street, New London, Connecticut. Tickets are available through the venue’s website and box office.
