Opening Day: Weston at Work and the Coley House at Weston History & Culture Center

A full afternoon of history, hands-on activities, and exploration takes place on Sunday, March 29, 2026 from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Weston History & Culture Center, 104 Weston Road, Weston, CT 06883 (parking and entrance via High Acre Road).
Celebrate opening day with the debut of the new interactive exhibit, “Weston at Work,” located in the historic Coley Barn. This engaging exhibit explores Weston’s agricultural, manufacturing, and textile history through hands-on experiences for all ages. Visitors can try carding wool, weaving on a loom, lifting a hay bale with a rope and pulley, and more while learning about the diverse people who shaped the town’s working past.
Guests can also step back into the 1940s with a guided tour of the award-winning Coley House, the only historic home in Connecticut restored to reflect life during World War II. The immersive experience invites visitors to explore daily life on the home front, from using a rotary phone and typewriter to learning about wartime challenges, family life, and changing technology.
Additional exhibits in the Visitor’s Center include “Twelve Stories of Weston History,” featuring highlights such as the Weston Meteorite and the Flood of 1955, and “Images of a Forgotten Village: Valley Forge,” showcasing a community now submerged beneath the Saugatuck Reservoir.
Visitors can also enjoy the Daniel E. Offutt, III Sculpture Garden and explore the historic grounds through interpretive signage.
Following opening day, the Weston History & Culture Center will be open Thursdays and the first and last Sundays of each month from 1 pm to 4 pm (closed on holidays and holiday weekends).
