Opening Celebration: The Body Imagined at Mattatuck Museum

The Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury will present the opening celebration of The Body Imagined: Figurative Art in the Bank of America Collection on Sunday, June 22, beginning at 11 am. This special exhibition, on view for the first time, explores how artists across decades have interpreted the human form in dynamic and thought-provoking ways.

The exhibition features works by renowned artists including Milton Avery, Nick Cave, Alex Katz, and Cindy Sherman. Through a range of mediums, these artists reflect on identity, emotion, and narrative using the figure as a central element. Spanning the 20th century to today, the show offers a wide-ranging look at figurative art and its role in shaping cultural conversations.

The Body Imagined is presented as part of the Bank of America Art in our Communities® program, which brings significant works of art to local audiences to encourage greater access and engagement with the arts. Admission to the museum for the opening celebration is \$5 for the day.

The Mattatuck Museum is located at 144 West Main Street, Waterbury, Connecticut. For more information, visit mattmuseum.org.
