On Thin Ice: Alaska’s Warming Wilderness at the Bruce Museum
March 14 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until October 19, 2025

The Bruce Museum in Greenwich presents On Thin Ice: Alaska’s Warming Wilderness, on view from March 6 through October 19, 2025. This immersive exhibition explores the dramatic effects of climate change on Alaska’s landscapes and wildlife, pairing lifelike taxidermy from the museum’s natural history collections with detailed landscape models that show “before” and “after” views of key Arctic environments.
Visitors can observe striking changes across six distinct habitats, including the emergence of “drunken forests” and tundra marked by shifting permafrost. Highlights include “Charlie,” the museum’s new half-ton polar bear, along with muskoxen, tundra wolves, Arctic foxes, and more. Family-friendly interactive features allow guests to touch caribou fur, match animal tracks, and listen to wildlife calls. A digital interactive helps visitors learn how to reduce their carbon footprints through everyday actions.
The Bruce Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors (62+) and students, and free for children under 5 and members. Discounted and reciprocal admission must be redeemed in person. The museum participates in Museums for All, offering free admission to up to four guests with an EBT card during regular hours.
The Bruce Museum is located at 1 Museum Drive, Greenwich, CT 06903. For more information, visit brucemuseum.org or contact info@brucemuseum.org.
