SUMMARY:Nature Writing Retreat at Yale Camp\, Great Mountain Forest
DESCRIPTION:An immersive three-day writing retreat takes place August 7–9\, 2026 at Yale Camp\, 209 Chattleton Road\, Falls Village\, CT 06031. \nHosted by Great Mountain Forest\, this inaugural Nature Writing Retreat invites writers of all levels to draw inspiration from a 6\,400-acre forest landscape rich in history and natural beauty. Inspired by the legacy of American nature writer Hal Borland\, the program explores how time in the wilderness can deepen observation\, creativity\, and environmental awareness. \nParticipants will engage in a series of workshops led by nationally recognized authors\, poets\, and environmental experts\, focusing on topics such as descriptive writing\, ecological literacy\, eco-poetry\, and storytelling rooted in nature. The retreat includes journaling and campfire discussions on Friday\, guided nature walks and workshops on Saturday\, and a closing reflection on Sunday. \nSet in the rustic surroundings of Yale Camp\, the experience offers woodland trails\, shared gathering spaces\, and meals provided on-site. Enrollment is limited\, with an optional opportunity to contribute to a post-retreat online anthology of participant work. \nRegistration is $385 through May 31 and $435 after\, with discounted student rates available. Optional lodging is offered for $70 for two nights. Registration closes July 24\, 2026. \nFor more information or to register\, visit greatmountainforest.org or call 860-542-5422.
