Mysterious Materials at Connecticut Museum of Culture and History

Families can discover the unexpected at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History’s Mysterious Materials family program. Ever wondered what a wooden nickel looks like or how decorations could be made from hair? This imaginative drop-in experience invites children and their caregivers to look closely at images of everyday objects and guess the surprising materials used to make them.
Participants will then get creative by crafting their own common objects out of unconventional and unusual supplies, exploring how materials can be transformed in unexpected ways. This free program is perfect for children of all ages and encourages curiosity, hands-on making, and lots of fun.
Mysterious Materials will take place on July 15, 2025, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History, 1 Elizabeth Street, Hartford, CT 06105.
