The Mattatuck Museum presents Modern Women: Georgia O’Keeffe and Kay Sage, a landmark exhibition running from February 23 through June 8, 2025, in the Baker Gallery. This show marks the first time the works of these two groundbreaking artists are displayed side by side, creating a rich dialogue between their respective Modernist visions.
Through paintings, photographs, personal objects, and archival ephemera, the exhibition explores the artistic paths of O’Keeffe (1887–1986) and Sage (1898–1963), who both emerged during a time of tremendous cultural and technological transformation in the early 20th century. Their lives and careers reflect the evolving role of women in the art world, highlighting the creative challenges and triumphs that shaped their enduring legacies.
The Mattatuck Museum is located at 144 West Main Street, Waterbury, Connecticut. Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 for college students with ID, and $8 for children ages 5–18. Admission is free for members, military personnel, children under 5, and Waterbury students. Additional discounts are available on the museum’s website.
Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm. The museum is closed on Mondays through May.
