Migration Magic at Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center

Celebrate the wonder of bird migration during Migration Magic, a month-long festival taking place throughout May 2025. This statewide event features bird walks, interactive family activities, and engaging experiences for all ages, all centered around the seasonal marvel of bird migration.

A highlight of the festival is the Birdathon—a friendly bird-spotting competition where participants aim to record as many species as possible. Whether you’re a seasoned birder or a curious newcomer, the Birdathon offers a rewarding way to connect with nature while supporting bird conservation efforts across Connecticut.

Participants are encouraged to collect pledges and donations based on the number of species they observe, with prizes and bragging rights awarded to top spotters. Every bird counted contributes to a greater cause, helping preserve the habitats and species that make Connecticut’s landscapes so special.
